Cigna: Update on Community Health Systems (CHS) in Alabama

After further discussion with Community Health Systems (CHS) in Alabama, Cigna has agreed to extend the network termination effective date from May 15, 2023, to August 1, 2023.

They hope this extension will help ease any disruption for your customers and allow them additional time to find alternative providers.

Until then, all Medicare Advantage customers will continue to have in-network access to the hospitals and physician groups listed below. Affected customers were previously notified via phone or mail of this termination, and our team will continue to work to identify the best alternative primary care provider (PCP) for each customer as we approach the network termination date.

Customers may have received an ID card in the mail with a new PCP. If the customer would like to return to their previous CHS provider until the new network termination date or if they'd like to select a new PCP altogether, they can call Cigna Healthcare's Medicare customer service line at 1-800-668-3813.

The following hospitals and medical groups will no longer be in network, effective August 1, 2023.

UPDATED 1/24/2024:

After productive negotiations with Community Health Systems (CHS) in Arizona, Cigna is happy to announce that CHS will remain in its Medicare Advantage network. There was no disruption in access to services with CHS. Clients can continue to use their CHS providers.

In anticipation of the potential termination, customers were assigned a new in-network Primary Care Physician (PCP). Now that CHS remains in network, clients may return to their original CHS PCP if desired.

Cigna is currently making outbound calls to clients to inform them that CHS remains in network. During this call, customers can make a selection to return to their previous PCP. They can also call the Cigna Healthcare Medicare customer service line at 1-800-668-3813.
