Ameritas Dental Network Expansion News!

Ameritas is excited to announce the expansion of their Ameritas Classic dental network through a new network-sharing arrangement with United Concordia Companies Inc. (United Concordia) effective May 1, 2024.* They anticipate this will increase their dental network access points by more than 5,100, while improving our network utilization by approximately 2%. Actuarial will release state-specific network numbers in March.**

This network expansion will increase claim savings for your members, help close the network gap, and increase your sales opportunities.

There will be no changes to member ID cards and the new providers will be added to the provider online directory.

The North Carolina Medicaid Expansion Began December 1, 2023. Here's what's new:

North Carolina has expanded who can get Medicaid starting December 1, 2023. Adults ages 19 through 64 earning up to 138% of the federal poverty line (e.g., singles earning about $20,000/year or families of three earning about $34,000/year) may be eligible. Current beneficiaries with full Medicaid coverage will not see any changes.  The state expects to expand coverage to approximately 600,000 individuals in North Carolina.

Following the end of the continuous enrollment condition on March 31, 2023, states are now required to resume regular eligibility and enrollment operations for Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), including renewals and coverage terminations. As an agent or broker, you are an essential partner in connecting consumers with health insurance coverage during these transitions. This is also a great opportunity to grow your book of business or gain referrals and connections.

2024 Centene Medicare Advantage Star Ratings

Effective September 30, 2023, Aetna's decreased premium rates for the following ancillary plans in Florida (for new and existing business):

• Cancer and Heart Attack or Stroke Plus
  (8% premium rate decrease) 
• Dental Insurance Plans
  (2% premium rate decrease)
• Dental Plus Insurance Plans
  (2% premium rate decrease)
• Hospital Indemnity Flex
  (20% premium rate decrease)

Aetna updated the brochure, outline of coverage and rate sheets for these plans, which you can view, download, and order on the agent side of AetnaSeniorProducts.com (under Products > Order Supplies).

• Policies with an effective date on or after September 30, 2023 will receive the new rate.
   
• Existing policyholders will receive the rate decrease on their policy anniversary date.
