Special Enrollment Period for Consumers at or below 150% Federal Poverty Level (FPL)

There’s a new Special Enrollment Period (SEP) available to lower-income consumers allowing them to enroll in Marketplace coverage any time, if eligible.

Consumers who qualify for this SEP may also qualify for more savings. Consumers who have an estimated annual household income at or below 150% Federal Poverty Level (FPL) in their state and aren’t eligible for Medicaid/CHIP may be eligible for this SEP. The annual household income at or below 150% Federal Poverty Level (FPL) varies by state and household size. Find the 2021 FPL amounts used for 2022 Marketplace applications.

Consumers won’t be able to enroll through this Special Enrollment Period at HealthCare.gov until late March. Until then, the Marketplace will contact people who previously applied and didn’t qualify, but now may be eligible, by phone or email letting them know they may qualify and to contact the Marketplace Call Center at 1-800-318-2596 (TTY: 1-855-889-4325) for enrollment help. Please visit HealthCare.gov for more information.

Starting in late March, the SEP will be directly available through the Healthcare.gov application as well as applications on approved Enhanced Direct Enrollment websites.
