Allstate Revises Short Term Medical Regulations

Allstate is revising regulations on short-term medical plans.

New regulations right around the corner.

Secure your customers' coverage with effective dates as far out as 180 days, starting July 1, 2024.

Important items to note:

  •  August 31, 2024, is the deadline for quoting and submitting rewritten short term medical plans impacted by the impending regulation changes with January 1, 2025, effective dates.
  • On September 1, 2024, quoting and submitting ends for rewritten short term medical plans with durations longer than four months.
  • Once approved, a policy number is issued right away. The applicant can either pay their premium immediately, or any time before January 1, 2025.

Search Agent Back Office (ABO) to find all your expiring Short Term Medical policies.

Once you've logged into ABO, click Quote & Enroll to start the rewrite process in ENG and start enrolling your customers now for January 1, 2025, effective dates.

It’s simple.

Submit the application for rewrite. On the Short Term Medical rate questions page of the ENG application, select Yes to: 

Are you rewriting an existing Allstate Health Solutions Short Term Medical customer on a new Allstate Short Term Medical Plan?

Complete the application with the customer. Your customer can even select a future initial draft date closer to the effective date that’s more convenient for them.

Your customer will receive an Application Pending Signature email from us. Once your customer esigns and submits the application, we will send you a confirmation email to let you know we received the rewrite. Your customer’s policy will not appear in your ABO until the coverage is issued.
