Connect For Health Colorado New Software

New software has been implemented - here's what's happening:

Summary

On Aug. 7, Connect for Health Colorado updated their application systems by replacing old, third-party software with new software created in-house. This gives their software developers more control with Connect for Health Colorado application systems, like the Marketplace, Shopping Portal, Broker Portal, Admin Portal, and customer accounts.

There are several enhancements to how these application systems look, but there are few changes to how to use them. More details about what has changed will be available when Certification Training occurs in September 2022, but here’s a broad look at everything that changed.

Background

This software update was part of the “Legacy Replacement” project, and it’s the reason for last week’s downtime. The old software that was removed is called hCentive, a third-party system that Connect for Health Colorado had been using since their first Open Enrollment began in 2013. Working with the third-party owner of that system limited the new features and updates they could produce.

The new software that they put into place was built in-house by their own software developers and is commonly referred to as EXCH (spoken as “Exchange”). Now that they own and operate EXCH, their software developers have more control in their ability to enhance your experience by updating the software over time.

Impacts to Your Work

You will see a slightly different look and feel to the Marketplace application, Shopping Portal, Admin Portal, and Broker Portal (see an overview of the changes here).

You may experience some lag time in the Broker Portal after searching for an account.

If you experience any errors that impact the customer experience or prevent work from being completed, please report them to your contact at Connect for Health Colorado. They will bring the issue to staff software developers.

Connect for Health Colorado Training Staff are working to get you all the details you need to know about the software changes during Certification Training, coming in September 2022.

Impacts to Customers

Returning customers will see a slightly different look to their account, but nothing will change operationally.

Due to connectivity issues, customers will only be able to pay by check for the next 1-2 weeks. The options to pay by credit card or bank withdrawal are unavailable until those issues are resolved in the expected 1-2 weeks.

From now on, Connect for Health Colorado will be able to use software updates to improve their response to customer needs. They will also be able to more easily customize their application systems to improve the customer experience over time.
