Healthcare.gov - Auto Re-Enrolled Consumers Have Till 1/16/24 To Change 2024 Coverage

Many consumers who were enrolled in the Marketplace for last year (Plan Year 2023) and did not make an active Plan Year 2024 (this year) plan selection by the 15th of December, 2023 were all consequently auto re-enrolled in coverage with an effective date of the 1st of January, 2024. This information was visible on HealthCare.gov and on partner sites starting the 16th of December, 2023. 

Some of your clients may wish to explore some of the other coverage options for this year, Plan Year 2024. They may also wish to change their plan selections for Plan Year 2024. Consumers who choose to change their plans or who choose to enroll in coverage between the dates of the 16 of December, 2023 and the 16th of January, 2024 will therefore have an effective date of the 1st of February, 2024. After the 16th of January passes, consumers will only be able to enroll or make a change of plans for Plan Year 2024 if a significant change in their circumstance or a regional disaster declaration is able to qualify them for a Special Enrollment Period (SEO). 

To to make sure that all your clients have the ideal plan that is the most effective at being suited to their needs in the coming year of 2024, you can assist them with the task of updating their application. You can also help them by looking at and reviewing all of the available plan options for 2024 with your clients.
